Boondock Saints Sequel In Production Now

Variety reports that a sequel to 1999's The Boondock Saints has begun shooting in Toronto. Entitled Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day, the film will have Troy Duffy return to direct from his own script.

Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus are both back as the brothers McManus. Billy Connolly and David Della Rocco return too, as does the unfortunately named Bob Marley playing everybody's favorite fuck-up, Detective Greenly. Clifton Collins Jr. (Sunshine Cleaning, Capote) and Julie Benz (Whedonites know her as Darla from Buffy & Angel, to me she's Rita from Showtime's Dexter... or the voice of Miranda Keyes from Halo 2) join the cast as well. No Paul Smecker though, shame...

Some fans will remember the long-in-gestation sequel being nearly buried at least in part because of Duffy's falling out with ex-Miramax honcho Harvey Weinstein. The 2003 documentary Overnight deals with Duffy's sudden rise and even quicker fall in Hollywood.
