Fired Up Trailer: F-U In Fun or F-U To Fun?

Head on over to Apple to check out the first trailer for the football players-turned cheerleaders comedy. I can't tell if I enjoyed this trailer or not. On the one hand, it made me laugh a couple times and it stars Disturbia cutie Sarah Roemer. On the other hand, it's about FOOTBALL PLAYERS WHO DECIDE TO BECOME CHEERLEADERS! How ridiculous is that? Sure, it's for the sake of getting girls, but as if they couldn't do that being football players? And not just any football player, STAR football players! Don't they have college scouts to consider, too? Then again, I may be reading far too much into the premise of a teen comedy. Anyone else notice that Eric Christian Olsen has been playing a high school kid for, like, 10 years? And anyone else think that Nicholas D'Agosto is looking considerably less douche-y than he did on Heroes? These are the things I think about...

Mentalist Malkovich In The Great Buck Howard Trailer

Apple has released the trailer for The Great Buck Howard, the comedy starring John Malkovich, Colin Hanks, Emily Blunt, and Steve Zahn. Malkovich plays a former star "mentalist" who gets an unlikely second shot at fame, while Hanks plays his newly hired personal assistant and Blunt his fiery publicist. You'll also notice from the trailer that Colin Hanks' real-life dad, Tom Hanks, makes an appearance as his, well, dad. This role looks like it was written for John Malkovich. Lots of sneering and smiling and over-the-top goodness. Follow the link to take a look for yourself.

Grainy Wolverine Trailer Hits The Net

Those of you who didn't go out and catch The Day The Earth Stood Still this weekend can get an early peek at the X-Men Origins: Wolverine trailer that played in front of it. The quality's about as good as can be expected, but from the looks of it, we will get some nice Gambit and Sabretooth footage, as well as some glimpses of young X-Men members, though I didn't catch any shots of Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool. John Murphy's amazing score to Sunshine is used during the first half of the trailer, just in case you were, you know, wondering or something. Catch it before it's inevitably pulled off of YouTube, or just wait for the high-res official version to come out some time in the next week or so.

Ryan Reynolds And Sandra Bullock Tom-Foolery In The Proposal Trailer

The trailer for the Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock romantic comedy has debuted, and it looks like we'll be seeing some amusing shenanigans out of this one. Bullock plays a stiff executive who forces her assistant, played by Reynolds, to marry her in order to avoid getting deported back to Canada and losing her high-powered job. Reynolds gives her some of his own stiffness ("It's the morning!"), and the two probably fall in love in the progress. Predictable? Sure. But the chemistry between these two is strong and for what it's worth, I giggled a few times through the trailer. The Proposal is director Anne Fletcher's (Step Up, 27 Dresses) third feature after an extensive dancing/choreographing career, and opens June 12, 2009.

Dragonball Dares To Not Suck

The Japanese trailer for Dragonball, which has apparently gained the subtitle Evolution, has surfaced on YouTube. I've been resigned for months that this movie would unquestionably suck. And suck hard. But this trailer is showing some splash, and at least the effects department looks like it's been pulling its weight. Sure, there are still all the appropriate concerns about how they've completely distorted the universe we came to know and love in the original Akira Toriyama manga/anime (not to mention some of the poor casting decisions...), but it certainly seems to have adopted a stylized veneer that at least makes for a (dare I say it?) pretty cool trailer. I remain skeptical, but I'm at least open now to the possibility that it might be a fun movie. Dragonball: Evolution opens April 8, 2009. In the meantime, you can head on over to MTV to hear Jamie Chung talk about re-shoots, how her character (Chi Chi) is named after boobs, and the possibility of two more films in the franchise.

Powder Blue Has A Trailer (And Plenty Of Jessica Biel Stripping)

This movie hasn't been on my radar until this point. The trailer for Powder Blue has popped up on YouTube, and it looks like it could be interesting. It's got a great cast, featuring Jessica Biel, Forest Whitaker, Ray Liotta, Patrick Swayze, Kris Kristofferson, Lisa Kudrow, and Eddie Redmayne. The trailer doesn't really tell us much about the movie, other than the fact that Jessica Biel spends a considerable amount of time stripping. IMDb gives us this plot outline: "Four Los Angelenos -- a mortician, an ex-con, a suicidal ex-priest, and a stripper -- are brought together on Christmas Eve by a mixture of circumstances." It looks like it could be something promising, though it also seems like it might be slightly derivative of Crash. We'll let you know more about this film as details become available.

International Terminator Salvation Trailer Online... For Now!

Terminator Salvation's international trailer from Japan is online for now and it looks... well, pretty damn good!

For months now, we've been following McG's Terminator Salvation with hope and not a little trepidation in our hearts - always careful not to get too involved or too invested, because we knew it would be so easy to be disappointed and heartbroken. Some signs that this might not suck were there - the impressive casting, positive buzz from actor Sam Worthington to James Cameron, and a marketing campaign that has had us at times undeniably saying, "Cool."

Now the first real glimpse we're getting at the movie is here and you know what? Damn it all, but I can't help it - I'm genuinely stoked for this movie. Other than Christian Bale doing what sounds just like his Batman voice, everything in the trailer has me geeking out. I think this movie could be good. Worse than that, I'm now hoping wholeheartedly that it will be. Be gentle with my heart, McG!

Terminator Salvation opens wide May 22nd, 2009.

Terminator: Salvation Footage on ET!

Check out some new footage that ET will be debuting from McG's Terminator: Salvation next Tuesday.

The trailer will probably find itself in front of The Day The Earth Stood Still remake. Thus far, the footage has been (surprisingly?) promising. At this rate, the movie ought to be at LEAST as fun as Transformers, if nothing else.

Robert Pattinson as Dalí In Little Ashes Trailer

Yahoo! has premiered the trailer for Paul Morrison's latest, Little Ashes, about the young life and loves of artist Salvador Dalí, filmmaker Luis Buñuel and writer Federico García Lorca.

Robert Pattinson, aka Cedric Diggory from the Harry Potter films aka Edward from Twilight, will fill the role of Dali, with Javier Beltran as García Lorca and Matthew McNulty as Buñuel. The film is slated for a limited release in the U.S. starting March 27, 2009.

I'm not sure how I feel about this one. The way the trailer has been cut gives a strange tween bent to the whole thing, which is at once remarkable and off-putting. I mean, I know that there's an audience of Twilight fans out there to capitalize on with Pattinson's involvement, but why run the risk of alienating the moviegoers that the film will actually play to?

Also, there's a bevy of Dalí films in the works still, which currently all sound more appealing than what this latest trailer is proposing to offer: Al Pacino in the title role and Cillian Murphy supporting in the Andrew Niccol-directed Dalí & I: The Surreal Story; Goodbye Dalí, written by Yaniv Raz and actor Allan Rich in a comedic take on his real-life relationship with the surrealist, with Peter O'Toole reportedly to take on the title role; and finally Johnny Depp has also been rumored to be "auditioning" screenwriters for a screenplay on the life of Dalí, with Depp possibly taking on the role.

So what do you think? Who are you more excited to see play Salvador Dalí?

Che Poster And Trailer Arrives

AICN has an exclusive look at the Che Roadshow poster, and Yahoo! has the trailer up for Steven Soderbergh's 4+ hour epic.

Che will actually be released by IFC in two parts: the first in the aptly named Che Part 1: The Argentine and will cover the Cuban Revolution from when Che arrived in Cuba with Fidel Castro to the toppling of dictator Fulgencio Batista two years later; the second part is called Che Part 2: Guerilla and will focus on Che's attempted revolutions in Congo-Kinshasa and Bolivia, where he was (spoiler alert?) ultimately captured and executed.

Thus far, everything that I've seen and heard about the film has shown that Che will be the epic that someone as seminal and controversial as revolutionary Ernesto "Che" Guevara deserves. Benicio Del Toro did win the Best Actor award at Cannes 2008 and this looks to be Soderbergh operating at his best, so I can't wait to catch it.

First Look At The Ugly Truth

I have to admit--this movie has my interest. First, the marketing campaign has been pretty nifty, putting out a cool poster (see right). Second, it stars the immensely likable Gerry Butler, alongside the equally likable Katherine Heigl. Third, it's an R-rated romantic comedy, which gives me hope that we won't have to watch the awkward hijinks usually found in such movies made even more awkward by the lack of profanity, dirty jokes, or gratuitous nudity to ease the tension. And finally, we now have a surprisingly fun trailer to give us our first taste of the movie. It opens April 3, 2009.

Stars Beware! He's Just Not That Into You

A new trailer has come out for the star-studded He's Just Not That Into You. Watch the likes of Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston, Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Connelly, Drew Barrymore, Justin Long, and more play relationship round-robin with each other. Based on Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo's best-selling book, the movie looks like it could be walking that dangerous line between a genuinely enjoyable relationship comedy or a derivative and uninspired attempt to capitalize on an established audience and bankable faces. That said, the cast is very likable, so I guess we'll find out February 6th.

Duplicity Trailer Puts On Quite A Show

Hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving! We're still playing catch up here at RRIB from a busy week leading up to the holiday, so we'll kick off our post-Thanksgiving updates with some more new trailers. First up, Tony Gilroy, writer/director of last year's Michael Clayton, is back with the new trailer for Duplicity. The movie reunites Clive Owen and Julia Roberts after 2004's Closer, and seems to carry quite a bit of spunk in spinning a fun corporate espionage story. Both actors know how to carry their swagger and this is looking like it could be a very charming movie. Tom Wilkinson and Paul Giamatti also join in on the fun. The movie opens March 20, 2009.

Star Trek Trailer Redux

Fans who didn't get enough out of the trailer of Star Trek that debuted a little over a week ago can now get a second helping. Ain't It Cool News brings us an exclusive that Paramount Pictures has released a re-cut trailer, this one with much more action and a special appearance at the end that is sure to get fanboys worked up into a frenzy. For my money, it's a better trailer that would get even non-Trek fans excited. Thoughts?

Adventureland Trailer Released

Superbad director Greg Mottola's latest comedy, Adventureland, has a new trailer.

The film stars Jesse Eisenberg, Bill Hader, Kristen Wiig, Ryan Reynolds, and Kristin Stewart. Set in 1987, the film follows a fresh-out-of-college kid who's a little lost in life, and, obviously, gets a job at an amusement park! The film looks like fun though, and I'm always down to see anything with Kristin Stewart, Kristen Wiig, or Ryan Reynolds - let alone all three.

The Wrestler Trailer Slams Home!

I am beyond excited for this movie. Darren Aronofsky is among my favorite filmmakers, and after the (undeserved, in my opinion) critical hate-fest on 2006's The Fountain, I'm glad this movie is getting as much love as it is (I'm also glad we don't have to wait another 6 years for a new Aronofsky film). Don't believe the hype or unfamiliar with the director's work? Check out the new trailer for The Wrestler to get your spandex shorts all bundled up in excitement. Mickey Rourke (turning in what everyone is saying is a career-defining performance), Marisa Tomei, and Evan Rachel Wood star in the movie, set for limited release on December 17, 2008, and then expanding to wide on January 16, 2009..

Ice Age: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs Unpacks Another Teaser

Apple Trailers has unveiled another teaser for Ice Age: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs, the third installment of 20th Century Fox's highly successful animated franchise. In usual Ice Age fashion, the second teaser trailer for the movie (the first one played before Horton Hears A Who and can be found here) features the further adventures of Scrat, the Laotian rock rat/chipmunk thing that's always obsessing over an acorn. The movie is set to open in theaters in Digital 3-D on July 4th, 2009.

Astro Boy Teaser Blasts Its Way Onto The Net

Moviefone has posted a teaser trailer for the upcoming Astro Boy (and we mean real upcoming--it's not due out until October of 2009). The movie, being made by Imagi Animation Studios and directed by Flushed Away's David Bowers, is an adaptation of the iconic manga series from the 1950's. Series was created by Osamu Tezuka (often regarded as the "god of manga") and debuted as an animated program in Japan in 1963. It was later adapted for overseas audiences in the 1980's, and remade again in 2003. This latest version will feature the voice talents of Freddie Highmore, Bill Nighy, Nicolas Cage, Kristen Bell, and Donald Sutherland.

Coraline Trailer Takes You To Another World

More animated goodness coming your way! Yahoo! Movies has added the full trailer for Coraline, Henry Selick's adaptation of the Neil Gaiman-penned children's novel (though it's perfectly suitable for adults as well). As a big Gaiman fan, and a kid who was mystified by the creepy goodness of The Nightmare Before Christmas, I'm stoked for this movie. It looks beautiful and having Selick adapt the material with his singular vision was, I thought, a brilliant and completely natural move. Anyone who hasn't already should take this opportunity to check out Selick or Gaiman's other works. Here's to hoping the film finds the success its pedigree deserves.

Nothing But The Truth Trailer Outted

Rod Lurie's Nothing But The Truth has a new trailer out now, embedded after the jump.

The film stars Kate Beckinsale as reporter Rachel Armstrong, who is imprisoned after her article outs a CIA agent (played by Vera Farmiga) and she refuses to name her source. Co-stars include Matt Dillon, Alan Alda, Angela Bassett, Noah Wyle, and David Schwimmer.

The film is based loosely on real-life CIA agent Valerie Plame, who was outed as a CIA Operations Officer by Robert Novak in his syndicated The Washington Post article. Novak was responding to an op-ed by Plame's husband, Ambassador Joseph Wilson, that charged the Bush Administration with manipulating intelligence to justify the preemptive invasion of Iraq.

Rod Lurie's 2007 Resurrecting The Champ was quietly impressive, albeit under-seen, and Nothing But The Truth looks like it could be pretty incendiary stuff. Let's hope more people will catch it this time around.
