Sequel Updates: Batman 3, Next Bond, Fast And Furious

Lots of news on the next installments of some film franchises today. First up, more Dark Knight news (and be ready for more as David S. Goyer does press for his The Unborn next week)! Christopher Nolan talked to USA Today about the challenges of putting together a third film. Nothing we haven't heard from him before, but it does seem like Nolan has begun to outline some ideas for a third film, albeit none he deemed good enough to commit to celluloid. The Dark Knight comes out on standard-def DVD and Blu-Ray hi-def (and also in a Limited Edition set with a Batpod stand) tomorrow.

Next up is news regarding where star Daniel Craig would like to see the next Bond movie take the franchise. In an interview with Collider, Craig expressed his desire to reintroduce some familiar faces, namely Q and Moneypenny. He talked about how he considers the story in Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace finished, with the character now ready to move forward toward a more familiar Bond. I'm all for the return of beloved characters, but hopefully they decide to keep to the more realistic approach to Bond that Casino Royale birthed and find a logical way to explain the techno-genius of Q.

And lastly, it looks like Fast and Furious will see the return of another cast member. Tyrese Gibson talked to Hollyscoop and confirmed that his character of Roman Pearce will be making an appearance in the fourth installment of the franchise. There's a pretty funny video of Tyrese talking about how it all came together (and also a little bit on Transformers 2), which you can find after the jump.

Nolan Talks Dark Knight Blu-Ray, Sequel, And More!

We haven't heard much from Christopher Nolan since The Dark Knight became the massive success that it is, except that he was taking an extended vacation and that there were currently no plans for a third Batman movie. Well, looks like that vacation is over and Nolan could be easing his way back into things. Ain't It Cool News had a reader send it a report on a Nolan-hosted TDK Blu-Ray Release Event, and the director talked a bit about the pluses of the Blu-Ray format, a 100,000-person Dark Knight viewing with a Q&A with the director himself, and the future of the franchise. Just to sum up the last bit, Nolan indicated that he would only do a third film if he felt there was a story to continue, something he's now busy figuring out (C'mon, OF COURSE there is! We all saw how TDK ended). The Dark Knight comes out on standard-def DVD and Blu-Ray hi-def (and also in a Limited Edition set with a Batpod stand) this Tuesday, December 9th.

The Dark Knight Returns!

For those of you who missed it (shame!), The Dark Knight will be heading back to theaters and IMAX (!!!) starting January 23rd as part of its Oscar push.

Warner Bros. announced that they will re-release the film nationwide, at which point the film will undoubtedly pass the billion dollar mark (currently only $4 million shy), and might even have a chance at the $600 million domestic gross record set by Titanic (currently $77 million away). If you didn't see it in theaters back in the summer, or if you haven't seen it now, wait and see it in IMAX. The glory of 70mm will blow your mind, and there's not a better movie to experience it in than Dark Knight, I guarantee it.
