James Gray, who directed the deeply flawed We Own The Night and the upcoming Joaquin Phoenix-Gwyneth Paltrow picture Two Lovers, has found his next project. He'll be teaming with Brad Pitt to bring an adaptation of "The Lost City of Z"
to the big screen. The non-fiction book by David Grann comes out in February and tells the tale of British soldier and spy Percy Fawcett. Fawcett left Victorian England to obsessively pursue an advanced civilization he termed "Z" in the Amazon. He disappeared into the jungle with his son in 1925 and was never seen again. This sounds like it could be an interesting project, though my faith in Gray has been shaken since 2007's We Own the Night. I haven't heard anything about Two Lovers yet, but hopefully it'll restore some of my confidence in Gray and get me really excited about his next project.
