George Miller Leaves Justice League

**UPDATE**
We're now hearing word that Miller's people are denying the claims that he was even on the show, let alone making announcements about the status of Justice League. You can find the update from Dark Horizons here. Looks like he's still attached and the project is moving forward for now.

Original Story:

Note: The Dark Horizons link now redirects to a different story for some reason, and the original piece is apparently missing. We'll let you know when it resurfaces.

Those who had been waiting eagerly for more news on the on-again-off-again version of Justice League George Miller was set to helm can now exhale. Whether it's in disappointment or relief is up to you, but it's looking like George Miller is no longer involved with the project. An Australian morning show called "Sunrise" had the director on as a guest, where he confirmed that he is in fact no longer tied to the project in any way. Miller made his name with the Mad Max films, then stayed relatively low-key for many years until he stirred up a bunch of attention again with 2006's Happy Feet.

Justice League would have been an immensely difficult film to pull off, and I'm not sure Miller has proven he's capable of handling a film of such magnitude yet, so this news is somewhat relieving for me. Still, he was an interesting choice, and now that he's off, I wonder if that means Warner Bros. is scrapping the project entirely, or going back to square one? Batman and Superman feel too big to fit into an ensemble hero piece (plus I can't imagine Nolan's Batman fitting in the same universe as the Justice League), but with Marvel ramping up The Avengers, I'm sure DC/Warners will want a similar project to rival it in scope. We'll keep you updated on how this turns out.
